Winner:

Directed by Andy Lovatt and Produced by Paul McCoy

First 11 Ltd

(l to r) Paul McCoy, Edward Everard (Group Sales & MD, Saville Audio Visual), Andy Lovatt

This category had entries ranging from TV ads, music promos to short corporates. Four of them particularly impressed the judges.

One was NHS: TAKE A STAND AGAINST MENTAL HEALTH STIGMA — a commercial shown in local cinemas highlighting the fact that one in ten young people suffers from some sort of mental health-related illness.

Another — BORN AND READ — was a TV ad for the Evening Chronicle aiming to convey a sense of pride in the local area's heritage, culture and values, in existing and potential readers.

A third — WE ARE THE ONE — was a direct marketing DVD/CD-Rom for Norseal, a Northumberland company distributing intumescent strips to the building industry.

And the fourth was G-STIX — a promo using a hip hop environment to suggest how cool it is to play with one of the latest toys.

The panel agreed that in G-STIX, Dene Films showed considerable skill and ingenuity to enthuse young people to buy what was, after all, just a few sticks in a box!

They also felt that WE ARE THE ONE from FNA Films was a very unusual corporate! The producer was to be congratulated for a strong concept parodying the Matrix, especially as it was delivered on a very small budget.

Robson Brown's BORN AND READ had exceptional camerawork and aerial photography — so good that it makes you want to move to the area!

And finally TAKE A STAND AGAINST MENTAL HEALTH STIGMA from First 11 Ltd had tremendous impact. It instantly draws you in, and is more powerful with more viewings. The original concept is very clever, and the shooting style and pacy edit is superb. Overall this was very polished and professional, and particularly remarkable from a producer who has only recently graduated from the University of Sunderland.

The award for BEST PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTION (which also receives the SAVILLE AUDIO VISUAL Trophy) is TAKE A STAND AGAINST MENTAL HEALTH STIGMA directed by Andy Lovatt and produced by Paul McCoy.
