North East & The Border Centre, RTS AWARDS 2005

BEST STUDENT ANIMATION

Winner:
HURRY HOME
Jonathan Wood

Cumbria Institute of the Arts

(l to r) Mark Lediard (Transmission Post-Production), Jonathan Wood

As usual, the winner of each of the three categories will represent this region in the RTS National Student Awards which will be held in London in April later this year.

There was a wide range of entries into this category, but although the judges recognised that a tremendous amount of effort had gone into all of them, overall the standard was not quite as high as in some previous years. In general the panel would have liked to have seen stronger storylines and story development.

One entry though, showed outstanding visual and aural creativity. HURRY HOME (from the Cumbria Institute of the Arts) was well executed, with a sophisticated approach to animation throughout, and excellent use of original music — altogether most enjoyable to watch.

The unanimous decision was that winner of the BEST STUDENT ANIMATION (which also receives the Transmission Post-Production Trophy) is HURRY HOME animated by Jonathan Wood.
