North East & The Border Centre, RTS AWARDS 2007

STUDENT AWARDS: ANIMATION
Guest Presenter: CURTIS JOBLING

Winner:
SOLAR
Created by IAN WHARTON and EDWARD SHIRES
, Cumbria Institute of the Arts

Curtis Jobling & Sue Underwood (Imagine TX) present the trophies to Ian Wharton & Edward Shires

3 entries particularly impressed the judges:

COCA COLA ADVERT (Newcastle College) was a really creative effort — part of a project for a first year student.

WEEP, FAST & PRAY (Northumbria University) showed just how much work students are prepared to put into their pieces.

SOLAR (Cumbria Institute of the Arts) was an outstanding piece of animation — sophisticated, and with amazing attention to detail.

The judges decided that Commendations go the COCA COLA AD PROJECT by MARK FERREIRA of Newcastle College, and to BOB LEE of Northumbria University for WEEP, FAST AND PRAY.

But the winner is SOLAR — created by IAN WHARTON and EDWARD SHIRES from Cumbria Institute of the Arts.

Missing the Sun

As usual, the winner of each of the three student categories will represent this region in the RTS National Student Awards which will be held in London later this year.
