North East & The Border Centre, RTS AWARDS 2007 STUDENT AWARDS: NON-FACTUAL
Winner:
(l to r) Steve Salem (Dene Films), Hannah Merridale, Nicholas Andrew Elliott, Gary Cupid, Tim Backshall There were 3 entries which most impressed the judges: FLORID made excellent use of locations and actors, and the professional support that was provided. BILLY had strong camera work and acting, particularly from its young lead. MINOS was intriguing and surreal, brimming with imagination and creativity. The Judges decided to award a Highly Commended to JAMES BAXTER of Newcastle College, Director and Producer of FLORID. A Commendation for BILLY goes to Director JAMES TURNER, Producer LAURA DUFFY, Camera CAMERON WRIGHT and KIM JOANNSON, and Editor KEN JOHNSTON. But the winner of the BEST STUDENT DRAMA is MINOS from Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Directed by NICHOLAS ANDREW ELLIOT and Produced by GARY CUPID.
"I've been here so long, I can't remember when I was brought in!" As usual, the winner of each of the three student categories will represent this region in the RTS National Student Awards which will be held in London later this year.
