This is Me:

Me with my television

I was born on April 5th 1990 at Dimmingdale Farm, Moorsholm, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, between the North Sea Coast and the North York Moors. When I was about 3 months old, I chose to go and live on another small farm about 2 miles to the north, just outside Moorsholm village. There was a very nice family already there, and I thought they would treat me well. They help me with my sheep duties — I have 15 ewes to look after, and one ram (or 'tup', as we call them in Yorkshire). In the summer and autumn, there's also the young lambs to keep an eye on as they grow up.
My missus helps me most with the sheep, whilst my man does things with films and microphones. There's another (younger) man, who's a very good artist — he designed my NelliVision Trademark on the left. I take him for the longest walks, around my moors, and through my woods.

There's another man called 'Ted', who works the camera for me, and at home a cat called 'Misty'. I don't know what she does (apart from sleep all day!) There's now ANOTHER young cat — a black one named 'Button'. She's still learning how to behave, so I just ignore her.

But the most important person is this lady.....

Diana Davies

This is Diana Davis, who speaks my words.

Diana Davies is a Yorkshire actress, who's best known for playing the part of 'Mrs Bates' in the TV series 'Emmerdale', although she's also appeared in 'Heartbeat' (which, too, is filmed in my North York Moors) and in 'Family At War' and 'Coronation Street'. She's a very good interpreter, and helps the humans to understand what I'm talking about.

This photo was taken at the top of Rosedale on the day I first appeared in front of the TV camera, and it's my favourite photo of me.

Me and my helpers

Me again, with two of my helpers.

Recording sound effects for 'Nell's Curious Yorkshire' in our village hall. The 'World of James Herriot' sequence needed the sound of my feet on a wooden floor. If I look a bit unhappy, it's because it was a very hot day, but I've got my winter coat on to hold the radio mic transmitter.
Television's not always glamorous!

I took my man to a 'pawtographing session' at Guisborough Bookshop.

Giving the old bloke a cuddle on the cliffs above Port Mulgrave.

Me on the East Cliff at Whitby, before I walked my man all the way to Robin Hood's Bay. We came back on the bus.

Another one on the East Cliff. These two pictures are framed with me on the right because they were possible covers for 'Nell's Coast'.

In April 2002 I was asked to open
the new Whitby Dog Rescue kennels at Burniston.
I 'barked' them open, and everyone clapped.

Me on My Step

On Whitby's 199 Steps, Step 14 (that's the one by the lamp-post!) is dedicated to me. My name is on the plaque at the top of the steps, and there's a book inside St.Mary's Church with my details.
Whitby Gazette photographer Alan Wastell took this photo of me and my man for the paper.

...and this is a picture of Alan taking the picture. Where's my man gone?
Well, who do you think took this picture?!

Always in front of the cameras!

Me working sheep

This is me working sheep, a week before
my 100th (dog years) Birthday.
I didn't mind wearing my 'overalls' this time
because it was a chilly February day!
